John and I had a class together in 11th grade, I believe -- Mr. Trask (Social Studies?) We laughed a LOT in class; I remember being surprised by how wickedly funny he was, since outwardly he looked so buttoned-down and proper. We were friends, but only in class -- we didn't stay in touch or hang out. But reading here that he had passed away hit me hard for some reason. I wish we had stayed in touch and become real friends. RIP, John.
John and I played baseball together on the Falcons and on Earl's Pest Control. He played third base, and on rare occasions pitched. He threw a mean knuckleball!! I recall he had a pile of siblings, and his dad worked for either the Times or Examiner.
I was blessed to know John.
So sorry to hear the news about John. RIP buddy. Many great memories and stories. We both played 3rd base for the Scots. He started because he was one of the league's top hitters with a batting average over .500. One hell of a hitter. I remember the best story with him was when we both cut classes to go to a Giants game. Don't know what we were thinking. Had to leave the game in 3rd inning to make it to our own game. Driving my Camaro 110mph down 101 to get back to Carlmont upper field hoping to the field tying or cleats. Coach Magnuson asked why we were late? And benched both us until 3rd inning then John to third and me to center field because he knew I hated center. Oh what great memories.
John lived in sterling downs with me. We went to the same church and schools together. I didn't know him well but knew him for years. I was at a service for someone and saw his Mother. The house is the same. R.I. P

RIP MY FRIEND. I may not have seen you for years but, the thought of losing a kind soul like you is everyone's loss.
